Insights in the two-step synthesis of single crystalline Ag2Te nanorods

Pure monoclinic single crystalline Ag2Te nanorods were synthesized by a two-step method. The first step concerns the electrodeposition of self-standing Te in an ionic liquid medium, taking advantage its templating properties. These obtained are with growth direction along [001] axis hexagonal lattice. average diameter as-deposited is 60 ± 13 nm less than 300 long. Afterwards, resulting nanostructured film immerged dedicated silver-based bath order to be transformed into binary compounds combined mechanism chemical cementation and topotactic transformation. analysis reveals that final nanostructures exhibit slight excess silver TEM-SAED shows they still increase initial diameter, 30%. HR-TEM highlights presence intermediate stützite phase hessite α-Ag2Te at end synthesis process.
